This course aims to provide students with skills to be able to write various types of functional texts in English fluently, accurately, and acceptably. The types of texts studied include: narrative, procedure, and exposition texts. Learning includes discussion of several types of sentences, such as definition, classification, comparison, contrast, exemplification and a combination of several types of sentences. Learning activities in class include discussing types of texts, writing activities both individually and in groups inside and outside the classroom, and discussing grammatical errors and the organizational structure of the text. To improve students' understanding of the types of texts, activities outside the classroom include text comparison survey assignments, text structure analysis, and individual text writing (individual assignment). Assessment is based on class assignments, assignments, portfolios, midterms and project presentation.
